कुरुक्षेत्र के युद्ध में महान योद्धा भीष्म पितामह असंख्य बाणों से घायल होकर उन्हीं बाणों की बनी शय्या पर लेट गए। गंभीर रूप से घायल होने के बाद भी वे शांत और सचेत रहे, क्योंकि उन्हें अपनी इच्छा से मृत्यु का समय चुनने का वरदान प्राप्त था। श्रीकृष्ण और पांडव उनके पास सम्मानपूर्वक आए और उनसे धर्म, कर्तव्य तथा न्यायपूर्ण शासन की शिक्षा प्राप्त की। भीष्म पितामह उचित समय की प्रतीक्षा करते हुए सभी को अमूल्य ज्ञान देते रहे।
What Happened in This Scene?
On the battlefield of Kurukshetra, the great warrior Bhishma was struck by countless arrows and rested upon a bed formed by them. Though badly wounded, he remained calm and conscious because he had the boon of choosing the time of his death. Krishna and the Pandavas came to honor him and receive his wisdom. Bhishma continued to guide them on dharma, duty, and righteous rule before waiting for the sacred time to leave his body.
