राजकुमारी द्रौपदी के भव्य स्वयंवर में अनेक राजा और योद्धा उनसे विवाह करने के लिए एकत्र हुए। प्रतियोगिता अत्यंत कठिन थी। प्रतियोगी को नीचे जल में दिखाई दे रहे प्रतिबिंब को देखकर ऊपर घूमती हुई मछली की आँख पर निशाना लगाना था। ब्राह्मण वेश में उपस्थित अर्जुन आगे बढ़े, शांत मन से लक्ष्य पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया और सफलतापूर्वक मछली की आँख भेद दी। उनकी अद्भुत धनुर्विद्या देखकर पूरा राजदरबार चकित रह गया। यह घटना महाभारत की कथा में एक महत्वपूर्ण मोड़ बनी।

At the grand swayamvara of Princess Draupadi, many kings and warriors gathered to compete for her hand in marriage. The challenge was extremely difficult: the contestant had to look at the reflection in the water below and shoot the eye of a rotating fish suspended above. Arjuna, disguised as a Brahmin, stepped forward, focused calmly, and successfully completed the challenge. His skill amazed the entire royal court and marked an important turning point in the Mahabharat.
